If you're looking to get away from it all, then
this is an ideal place to chill out. For those who are more active,
there are also plenty of places to visit – mountain rivers, lakes and
woods and outdoor activities such as hiking, horse trekking, white water
rafting, trout fishing.
For those in need of relaxing therapies, there is a wide range on offer
in town by competent therapists.
If you enjoy good food, the area offers a good selection of local
organic produce from the best in ice creams, as well as local cheeses,
jams, cakes, soft fruit, trout and good homemade bread. Argentine wines
from the wine growing districts further up the Andes are unbeatable for
price and taste.
There is a large and attractive local market several days a week
offering a wide and inventive range of handcrafted goods and local
produce. The market is the main tourist attraction in the town.
In summer, there is a lot of excellent entertainment – music, theatre
and art – produced by the very varied talent of local artists.
The best time for visiting this southern hemisphere paradise is between
November and April. The summers are usually hot and dry and so excellent
for all outdoor activities. The first few weeks of April are brilliant
as the trees change colour - a truly golden moment.
This is an ideal place for writers and artists who are looking for a
quiet and inspiring place to create and well as for the discerning
traveler looking for a closer contact with natural surroundings and the
local way of life.
